Parklex showcase at Singaplural 2014

Ewins is proud to announce its participation in the third edition of SingaPlural with an installation showcasing Parklex®– the durable, contemporary timber solution for interiors and exteriors.

Organised by the Singapore Furniture Industries Council, SingaPlural – the anchor event of Singapore Design Week 2014 – returns this year to showcase the best design elements from the multi-faceted creative spectrum at Dhoby Ghaut Green from 12 to 16 March 2014. In the middle of the event venue, expect to see a stadium-like structure covered with natural wood embracing the roundabout. This structure is not merely aesthetically pleasing; it also functions as a viewing gallery for events lined-up during SingaPlural 2014. Designed by PLUS Collaboratives, this gateway offers two experiences when it is approached from different directions – the concave face welcomes viewers to the event while the convex face gives one the feeling of anticipation of entering the viewing gallery.

Made from 100% natural wood, Parklex® finishes have been used by world-renowned architects and designers such as Frank Gehry and Jean Nouvel to provide a look of quality and comfort for both building interiors and exterior surfaces. Parklex® comes in five distinct series – one for exteriors and four for interiors – each with a different product characteristic and treated according to its application.

Parklex® Façade is a high-density stratified timber panel treated with resins thermoset under high pressure and temperature, then finished with natural timber veneers highly resistant to UV radiation and atmospheric agents. Known for its capability of resisting harsh weather conditions, Parklex® Façade also comes with Everlook®, a special overlay that dramatically improves the durability, UV resistance and colour stability of the panels. The panels are also further treated with an anti-graffiti protective layer, making them even more ideal for use in public areas. Do not miss the opportunity to see and feel these unique outdoor panels at SingaPlural 2014.

With Parklex®’s panels for the interiors, it is now possible to keep the same colours and finishes throughout the interior, even in wet areas such as the bathrooms or kitchens. Parklex® 700 is highly resistant to humidity; Parklex® 500 is best for ceiling and wall finishes especially with its noise and reverberation prevention characteristic; Parklex® 2000 is capable of resisting extreme wear and Parklex® 3000 is for full access raised floors. Parklex® has the finish for every purpose.

Parklex® 2000 installed as flooring in the Gugghenheim Bilbao Museum saw more than 10 million visitor-footfall in the 15 years that the museum has been in operation – the best evidence and the most demanding test of Parklex®’s natural wood floors.

Besides being manufactured from natural wood, the entire Parklex® line is tested according to the new European standard EN 13.501 regarding reaction to fire, obtaining the best results possible for organic materials. These finishes are also capable of resisting high level of wear due to intensive use. Simple maintenance is all that is needed to prolong the life of these coverings, which makes them immediately economical.
