Oak is such an integral part of winemaking, playing the pivotal role of varying colour, texture and flavours of fine wines. Thus, it is by no coincidence that Oak became the designer’s timber finish of choice for Bodegas Bujanda’s headquarters in La Rioja, Spain.

In this recently-completed project, Parklex’s Sand Oak was selected as the only finish to be applied in all areas of the winery’s headquarters that are open to public. Sand Oak’s soft and understated tones formed the clean muted backdrop from which the bottles could stand out.

Parklex’s Dry and Wet Internal range for walls and ceilings, as well as Hy Tek range for floors, can be supplied in the same timber veneer selection but treated according to their applications. This allows designers to keep the same colours and finishes throughout the interiors. So when the winery’s architect specifically requested to only use materials from one supplier to ensure uniformity and quality throughout the building interiors, Parklex became the undisputed choice.

While the Sand Oak flooring remains as the main transversal application to connect difference spaces and levels, the same finish was applied on walls, furniture, and other non-standard areas such as stairs, skirtings, kitchen counters, shelves, and even bathroom walls and vanity tops.

In addition to its aesthetics and colour stability qualities, Sand Oak has a higher tensile strength which makes it possible to employ in bulkier applications – such as counter tops, stairs and rounded handrails – without edge treatment.
